You may not have heard of Sulwhasoo but the brand has a huge following internationally and landed on our shores earlier this year bringing a beautiful range of skincare. I had always seen this brand in department stores in Asia and at Duty free stores but had never tried it. But since I received a sample of the Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum I feel a pang of regret for not trying the brand out sooner! I should have known better because Sulwhasoo is a Korean brand and let’s be honest, everything beauty related that comes from there is amazing!
What is it?
Sulwhasoo’s philosophy is based on harnessing the power of Korean herbal medicine. The formulations encompass years of research into the benefits of herbs. Sulwhasoo’s First serum is it’s signature first step in its skincare regime and contains the specially developed JAUM activator which is a combination of a potent combination of five Korean herbs – Lotus, Rehmannia, Peony, Solomon’s Seal and White Lily. The serums aims to hydrate, nourish, and visibly firm the skin.
The current formulation features the fifth generation JAUM activator that Sulwhasoo says is more powerful than ever as an essential anti-aging booster that stimulates the skin’s natural ability to rejuvenate itself.
How I found it?
First off, can I just say how beautiful the packaging is. I know that is irrelevant to the outcome of the serum but I love that it’s housed in a ceramic/glass bottle and the beautiful Korean script just makes it feel like it’s something special – a beauty elixir.
Initially, I was a bit shocked at how fast the serum absorbs into the skin. My skin just drinks it up. It’s definitely not something you use by itself but it gives a huge injection of nutrients into the skin that is a good precursor for the moisturiser over the top to lock it all in. I found that it helped to give my skin not only a hydration boost but it also helped to improve the clarity of my skin and visibly lessen the little lines on my forehead.
You need only a small amount to cover the face and neck. Enough for your skin to drink it up! I loved the subtle herbal smell as well which made it quite enjoyable applying it to my face.
