HoMie marks ‘Youth Homelessness Matters Day’ with limited edition hoodies designed by Tommy Little Melbourne streetwear label and social enterprise, HoMie, has joined forces with a long time friend of the brand, Tommy Little, to launch a new limited edition range of hoodies, marking ‘Youth Homelessness Matters Day’ and the commencement of the brand’s second annual Hoodies4Homelessness campaign.
One in four people experiencing homelessness in Australia is aged between 12 and 24 years old, representing almost 25% of the total homeless population. Each year, HoMie’s Hoodies4Homelessness campaign encourages corporates, companies, and consumers to don a hoodie on the third Wednesday of April to raise awareness for the homelessness crisis among young people and help break the cycle. The
ultimate goal is to see 28,000 Aussies wearing a hoodie, reflecting the number of young people experiencing homelessness on any given night across the nation.
Designed by Tommy, an Australian comedian and TV personality, HoMie’s new genderless hoodie collection features six colourways and a custom logo with pre-orders now open. 100% of profits from each hoodie sold in the drop will support the organisation’s mission to help young people affected by homelessness and hardship by equipping them with skills, confidence, and experiences to be more work-ready and better prepared for their future.
This year, global lifestyle brand Champion is also joining the cause. For the first 3,000 Tommy Little hoodies purchased, Champion will donate a hoodie for HoMie to pass on to a young Australian affected by homelessness.
“Youth Homelessness Matters Day brings to light an uncomfortable truth; young people are disproportionately affected by homelessness throughout Australia. We’re so grateful for the continued support of our long time friends Tommy Little and Champion and their involvement in this year’s campaign. Youth homelessness is a crisis situation. We need to get the word out there and affect change.
Together, we can”, said Marcus Crook, HoMie Co-Founder and Creative Director.
Whether it’s buying one of Tommy’s limited edition designs or rocking an old faithful hoodie and donating to the hoodies4Homelessness campaign, there are many ways Aussies can do their bit to participate in ‘Youth Homelessness Matters Day’ and support a worthy cause. All donations made via the Hoodies4Homelessness website will be split between HoMie and Launch Housing, a
Melbourne-based organisation passionately committed to help end homelessness through providing high-quality housing and innovative support services, education and employment opportunities.
Since 2019, Champion has been a proud partner of HoMie, offering financial support and expertise to the social enterprise alongside job opportunities for those in the HoMie Pathway Alliance program.
