VAMFF 2017: PREMIUM RUNWAY 3 PRESENTED BY HARPER’S BAZAAR AUSTRALIA

Premium Runway 3, presented by Harper’s Bazaar Australia, celebrated the risk takers and style makers of Australian fashion, and even in the 30+ degree weather, managed to make it snow (literally).

Structural master, Dion Lee opened the show, showing his signature construction paired with oversized belt detailing and razor sharp sunglasses. Across a mainly neutral palette, crisp whites and flesh tones melted into rich navy’s before sports luxe inspired watermelon pieces woke the audience up – and showcases a new direction of the designer.

Manning Cartell paired delicate slip dresses paired with statement coats, truly embracing the transitional season, and showing the summer favourite works just as well in cooler weather.

Ginger and Smart played with sexy silhouettes in a wide range of fabrications. Playing with denim-esque textiles, burnout velvet, and floaty, dreamy lace – their girl this season is one who never plays it safe.

Yeoman Bae is the queen of colourful, structural dressing, and her collection celebrated her signature aesthetic by way of crepe fabrications and glove-like construction, but with fun new additions like laser cut bodices and luxurious lacework.

Macgraw showed ethereal white lace gowns, recalling Picnic at Hanging Rock, alongside delicate sheer blouses – and a showstopping canary yellow dress and coat combination.

Floor length silk dusters, effortless white gowns, and pops of metallic gold were seen at Carla Zampatti, with the Australian fashion icon’s latest collection pushing her aesthetic into slinkier, sexier territory.

Closing the show was Romance Was Born. Fresh from their appearance at the Gala Runway, the duo’s quirky aesthetic got a grown up reworking – with their signature detailing placed onto a more tailored set of silhouettes.

As the finale begun, a troop of winter white clad models returned to the runway, as delicate snow fell from the sky. While it’s still hot outside, we’re sure that winter fashion is going to get much cooler.
